My first stand-up comedy performance was in 2014 as part of Bright Club, the comedy night where academics try their hand at communicating their work through the medium of stand-up, founded and run by Dr Steve Cross. Steve later became my science communication mentor, and I went on to regularly perform standup comedy sets about materials science and engineering to public audiences across London and the UK as part of Science Showoff, Engineering Showoff and Bright Club.
In 2016 Steve included me in the Science Showoff Talent Factory, a group of next-generation science communicators. Here I continued honed my comedic craft, and enjoyed collaborations with the group, such as our comedy panel show called The Agony Auncles of Science, which we took to the Edinburgh Fringe festival.
I still regularly perform stand-up comedy about materials science around the UK. Get in touch if you want to hear my jokes!
